Wide Fixed Pattern Spindle Drilling Head with Rod Guide Supports When a Multiple Spindle head increases in width the chance that a very small rotation of the head making a significant change in the location of the outboard spindles increases. Some drilling machines are "tight" enough to eliminate this possibility. If the application tolerances are critical and the drilling machine has any rotational movement in the spindle then rod guides may be added to the head. These guides can then run through bronze bushings, that are usually located behind the head, to eliminate any rotational movement.
